GCC Cares

GCC Cares

We know that addressing your basic needs is essential for thriving in your studies. GCC Care staff are social workers and social work interns, and currently we are located inside the Student Union in the Student Life Office. Some ways we help include emergency financial assistance, bus passes, addressing food and housing needs, navigating AHCCCS and SNAP, food and gas cards, emergency bookstore funds, and connecting you to resources on campus and in the community.

At GCC, we are reimagining our Monthly Food Distribution, an amazing partnership with St Mary’s Food Bank. We are moving it to the center of campus. It will have a Farmers Market feel, and the adjacent resource fair will have themes that our students have indicated are relevant topics for them. We will also host a “Volunteer Corner," where anyone can help weave recycled plastic grocery bags into plastic yarn or "plarn" to make sleeping mats for our homeless community in partnership with DSquared Homes for the Homeless.

The food distribution will take place on the Center Mall from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or until food runs out.

Upcoming 2025/2026 Food Distribution Dates and Resource Themes:

  • October 16 | Housing Resources
  • November 20 | Family-Focused Programming
  • December 11  Elderly Resources
  • January 29 | Housing and Basic Needs
  • February 26 | Employment and Career Opportunities
  • March 26 | Personal Well-Being
  • April 30 | Summer Bash

Students can borrow a laptop, hotspot, or calculator for the semester by filling out a request form from each of the three departments that distribute these items. Laptops and calculators are first come, first served. We lend the hotspots on a needs-based review. Follow the links below to get started!

Hotspots will be available on a first come first serve basis. To reserve one, please visit the West Circulation counter at the GCC library.

Want to make the most of your college experience? Whether you’re just starting out, getting ready to transfer, or gearing up for the workforce, a Peer Success Coach is here to support you.

What’s a Peer Success Coach?

Think of a Peer Success Coach as your personal guide to navigating college life. They’re students just like you, ready to listen, inspire, and help you tackle any challenges. Plus, they know all the ins and outs of GCC, so you’ll always be in the loop.

Get Matched with a Coach!

We'll pair you with a Peer Success Coach who shares your interests, background, or career goals. It all starts with a quick survey to get to know you better. After that, you can meet with your coach as often as you like, whenever it fits your schedule. For the best results, we recommend meeting at least three times per semester.

Ready to get started? Just fill out our survey, and we'll take it from there!
