Connecting GCC to Business & Industry
Business and industry play a critical role at Glendale Community College. Our Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Councils work collaboratively with CTE program directors, faculty and staff to ensure our programs and curriculum meet the needs of regional employers and prepare students with the requisite skills to be successful in today’s economy.
Advisory councils assist the college with continuous improvement and quality of its occupational programs by ensuring that instructional offerings align with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by local business and industry. Councils generally meet once a year and communicate informally as needed to discuss program operations, provide recommendations to improve CTE programs and review labor market demands. Council members can also assist with yearly activities to enhance student learning and job readiness by reviewing portfolios, judging competitions, participating in mock interviews and serving as guest speakers.
