Bio

Biography

I’ve been a teacher most of my life. Tutoring in high school and college led to teaching fellow officers in the U.S. Air Force. After nearly 10 years in the military, the career I had planned veered onto a new course when I discovered my passion. With a new focus and motivation I didn’t know was possible, I went back to school and became a teacher for Deaf children. I also achieved a personal goal of becoming a certified sign language interpreter. Eventually, my experience as a teacher and interpreter led me to Glendale Community College where I now teach American Sign Language and Deaf culture. My courses provide the foundation for students who want to become sign language interpreters.

I also work with many students who are interested in health care, education, social work or emergency services. The courses I teach provide valuable tools for effectively communicating with Deaf people you may encounter in those and other professions.
