Bio
Biography
Dr. Simkins has taught nursing at GCC since 2014. She received her B.S.N. and M.S.N. with an emphasis in Nursing Education from Michigan State University and her D.N.P. with an emphasis in Educational Leadership from American Sentinel College at Post University. She also maintains her CNE certification. Before coming to GCC, she taught for Baker College and Macomb Community College, practiced as a Med- Surgical RN for 3 years and a Critical Care Nurse for 13 years in a large Michigan Hospital System. She also has been adjunct nursing faculty with Arizona State University. She has served as a faculty advisor to the Glendale Association of Student Nurses (GASN) since 2015. She teaches the first semester students in the weekend program and is passionate about facilitating her students' success and emphasizes the role and responsibilities of the RN in the safe care of those they serve.
