Bio

Biography

Welcome to my Bio! While you're here, how about I tell you a little about myself. I teach Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, and a course on Understanding Death and Dying. My PhD is in social psychology and I am most interested in how we form and change our attitudes and beliefs, how we perceive others, particularly stereotypes and prejudice, and the causes and consequences of counterfactual thinking, which are thoughts of “what if...” or “if only I’d done something different...” I learned about these areas through research and I hope that as you take courses in psychology you will also learn an appreciation for the importance of research and for how it’s conducted. A few fun facts about me: I started teaching over 30 years ago, but I had a 15-year span working in the business world and that experience opened my eyes to the many applications of psychology in the “real world.” Speaking of the real world, I love the outdoors. If I am out running, hiking, kayaking, or biking, I’m happy! I love the oceans, the mountains, and the trees -- especially the Aspen. Be sure to ask me why I am so fond of Aspen trees!
