Biography
Biography
Sherry Wangen currently serves as a residential faculty member in the Teacher Education Program at Glendale Community College. Prior to this position she served as the Assistant Chair for Reading in the English Department and a Developmental Education Faculty Lead. Sherry joined Glendale Community College in 2007 as an adjunct Reading/ ESL instructor and became a full-time faculty member in 2013. Ms. Wangen brings 20 plus years of experience in K-12 and higher education institutions with an extensive background of serving the needs of culturally, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse populations.
Sherry has held a variety of roles as a classroom teacher, Reading Specialist, site-based Math coach, and certified evaluator/administrator. Additionally, Sherry served as a mentor through Arizona State University’s Teacher Advancement Program, in partnership with the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching. Sherry is a native to Arizona and is a past GCC student.
Sherry received a B.A.Ed. for Elementary Education: English as a Second Language/Bilingual Education from Arizona State University in 1998. In 2007 Ms. Wangen completed a M.Ed. degree in Education with a Reading Specialist endorsement from Northern Arizona University.
