Bio

Biography

I have been associated with Glendale Community College for 23 years. I started out as a student here in 1998 and moved on to become an intern, adjunct faculty, and finally, residential faculty in the English department. Currently, I serve as an Assistant Chair for the English/Reading/Creative Writing/Journalism department. I teach at the GCC North campus. I also help manage the Writing Center at GCC North, a free tutoring service meant to help students with their writing assignments.

I have been actively involved in several campus and district wide committees/initiatives including the Actionable Change for Employee Satisfaction (ACES) committee, the PARC review process, and the Honors Advisory Council.

I am a lifelong learner, and I believe that great educators must be great students first. I recently earned my doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership with emphasis on Organizational Management from Grand Canyon University. My journey as a doctoral aspirant has taught me to respect the challenges and struggles faced by students who are forced to balance homelife, school work and career responsibilities at the same time. I have, as a result, become more empathetic towards the needs of my students and strive to build a safe, engaging learning experience in my classroom.

On a personal note, I am a trained classical dancer, and I perform often at cultural locations across the valley. I am passionate about culture and ethnic heritage, and I serve on the board of two large non-profit organizations geared towards building an appreciation for the arts.
