Michelle Blomberg is faculty and director of the Digital Media Arts and Animation programs. Ms. Blomberg teaches ART182 Graphic Design 2, ART248 Design Self Promotion and ART280ac Capstone where students work for real clients on projects. One of her favorite projects is The Traveler, GCC’s award winning literary and visual arts publication. Her passions are mentoring students to help them achieve their goals, helping develop successful online and hybrid communities and user experience design.

Michelle is originally from Michigan where she graduated with a BFA in Visual Communications from Eastern Michigan University. While working at the design firm Q LTD, she designed large campaigns for clients like the SIGGRAPH Conferences and the University of Michigan. While at Q, she started teaching at Eastern Michigan University and The College for Creative Studies in Detroit. She then worked for Proquest as Online Marketing Manager and finally as a Software Product Manager for online learning software. She has been developing and teaching online and hybrid courses since 1999. She received her Master’s Degree from Northern Arizona University online in Instructional Technology with a focus on higher education online learning in 2017.

She has been at GCC since 2004, first as an Instructional Technologist then her current residential faculty position since 2010. Other professional pursuits include a photography and social media business with her husband.

On a personal level, Michelle and her husband are raising 4 adventurous teens, traveling in their Sprinter van and mountain biking all over Colorado, Arizona and Utah. She’s on a women’s bike race team and can testify that you don’t have to be the best at something to have fun doing it.
