The annual GCC Athletic Banquet honors student athletes for their outstanding contributions to their sport and their academic success. The following GCC Gauchos were recently honored at the GCC Athletic Banquet as Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

On the basketball court, Ty has been a two-year starter for the Gauchos, helping lead the team to the Regional Semifinals in both seasons. This year, he earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in the Arizona Community College Athletic Association (ACCAC) and finished third in the conference in total assists.
Nationally, Ty ranks third in the country among Division II junior college players in assist-to-turnover ratio, while also finishing first in the conference in that category.
Last season, he placed third in the voting for Freshman of the Year, highlighting the impact he has made throughout his career.
Ty’s leadership extends beyond the court. He served as team captain and was an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council for two years.
Outside of athletics, Ty is a youth leader in his church group and gives back to the game by coaching with the Pro Vision Sports AAU club team alongside his brother and father.
