Stargazing at the Glendale Community College North Observatory
Explore the night skies with GCC’s A.S.T.R.O. Club’s Exploring the Night Skies – Stargazing event. The event is open to all members of the community who have an interest in, or are curious to learn more about, Astronomy.
You can:
- View the Night Skies through the observatory’s eight Celestron 8’ high-powered telescopes.
- Meet with GCC faculty from the Astronomy and Geology departments to answer your questions.
- View a geo-planetary display complete with real meteorite samples
- Enjoy hands-on experiences:
- Make a planisphere (star chart analog computing instrument) that maps the stars visible in the night sky at different times of the year.
- Make a mini light saber by creating a working electrical ‘paper circuit’
- Make a soda straw rocket or a straw loop plane
