The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Certified Bookkeeping program helps to prepare students for a Certified Bookkeeper Examination. This program is designed to prepare students to work for CPA firms, tax preparation firms, corporate accounting departments, and small businesses or offer freelance bookkeeping services. The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Accounting and the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Accounting are also available.

This is a Fast Track Certificate, which can be completed in two semesters or less.

  7. Prepare bank and account reconciliations.
  8. Calculate wages, withholdings, deductions, and related payroll taxes.
  9. Record payroll entries.
  10. Demonstrate the ability to prepare payroll reports.
  11. Calculate payroll liabilities including employer and employee.
  12. Explain the importance of timely payment of payroll tax obligations.
  13. Apply various inventory costing systems.
  14. Describe inventory valuation methods.
  15. Calculate depreciation using a variety of methods.

Course Sequence by Term

The following is the suggested course sequence by term. Please keep in mind:

  • The course sequence is laid out by suggested term and may be affected when students enter the program at different times of the year.
  • Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
  • Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College. Courses include FYE101 and FYE103. Course offerings will vary by college. See an academic, program, or faculty advisor for details.
