One of GCC's Biotech students named a Helios Scholar by Translation Genomics Research Institute (TGen). Debbie Healey is the fifth GCC student to be selected for this prestigious paid summer internship program. Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to work side by side in the laboratory with TGen's first-class research scientists for eight weeks, investigating the genetics of various diseases including diabetes, Alzheimers, melanoma and other types of cancers. You can learn more about Debbie's somewhat non-traditional educational journey in her profile.
UPDATE: Debbie Healey's work "The Optimization of an Immunohistochemistry Protocol for using Mouse Antibodies on Mouse Tissue" was selected as one of "best posters" at the recent Helios Scholar Symposium which culminated the summer internship program.
Another biotechnology student success story! Read all about Stephanie Schumaker's seamless transfer from GCC to ASU West. She has a promising career ahead thanks to our unique institutional partnership. (Stories about other biotechnology alumni can be found here).
Partnership with ASU West allows GCC Biotech students a seamless transition to a bachelor's degree. GCC Alums, Stephanie Schumaker and Debbie Healey (see profiles above) are following this degree pathway.
