BPC270: A+ Exam Prep: Operating System Configuration and Support – 3 credits

Explore advanced technical aspects of maintaining and servicing computers. Emphasis placed on OS installation, maintenance, mobile devices, security, software troubleshooting, and on proper usage of tools, safety procedures, and professionalism. Helps prepare students for the CompTIA A+ examinations. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CIS105 or permission of Instructor.

BPC275: CompTIA Exam Prep – 2 credits

Focuses on reviewing key concepts, practicing skills and preparing to successfully demonstrate existing knowledge on CompTIA certification exams. The course is designed to provide an overview of exam topics, study and test-taking strategies. It also will include structured study time, group discussions, and the use of practice exams to assess test readiness. Note: Students should be finishing a CompTIA class, looking for CompTIA certificate renewal, or have industry or other prior training in CompTIA topics and concepts. BPC275 may be repeated for a total of six (6) credit hours. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in BPC170, or BPC270, or permission of the Instructor.

CAD100: Fundamentals of 2D Autocad – 3 credits

Utilize AutoCAD software to generate two-dimensional (2-D) drawings and components in a generic installation. Apply basic AutoCAD commands and properties to format, draw, edit, layer, dimension, import/export, and manage drawing files. Creation, manipulation, and hard copy production of 2-D drawing files from major AutoCAD command and display environments and plot options. Prerequisites: None.

CAD101: Elements of CAD Graphics (AutoCAD) – 3 credits

Computer generation of drafting and design components using pure elements and basic geometric procedures. Incorporates concept illustration based on standard pictorial methods and develops multi-view projection techniques and presentation methods. Introduction to the fundamentals of three-dimensional (3D) modeling and the construction and printing of 3D objects. Prerequisites or Corequisites: CAD100 or permission of Instructor.

CAD287: Advanced Revit Techniques – 3 credits

Advanced use of Revit architectural modeling software utilized by the architectural industry. Develop custom families with parameters and formulas, generate conceptual mass plans, prepare design phasing for renovation and tenant improvement projects, and work with advanced features associated with architectural building design. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CAD167 or permission of Department or Division.

CAD292: Current Developments in CAD Technology – 1 credit

The exploration and analysis of the newest software packages and/or plug-ins on the market designed to enhance or replace existing Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software. Designed to introduce and develop skills in the latest state-of-the-art tools pertinent to industry today. Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CAD100, or permission of Department or Division.

A study of the chemical properties of the major groups of elements, equilibrium theory, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and other selected topics. CNT140AB: Introduction to Networks – 4 credits

Focus on the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and other computer networks. Principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced. Students will build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, and implement IP addressing schemes. Preparation for Cisco certification examination. Prerequisites: None.

CNT171: CCNA Exam Prep – 1 credit

Preparation for renewal of CCNA certification by reviewing the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model and industry standards including network topologies, IP addressing, subnet masks, access control list, basic network design and cable installation. Practice the skills to configure, customize, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches for Local Areas Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) using Cisco IOS command set. Review any new material introduced since the last CCNA exam version. Note: CNT171 can be offered on credit (P) No credit (Z) basis. Standard grading available according to procedures outlined in college catalog. Review of basic mathematics. Hydraulic laws and formulas as applied to the fire service. Application of formulas and mental calculations to hydraulic problems, water supply variables, and discharge requirements for pumpers. Prerequisites: None.

FSC204: Firefighting Tactics and Strategy – 3 credits

Methods of coordinating personnel, equipment, and apparatus on the fireground. Practical methods of controlling and extinguishing structural and other types of fires. Includes simulation exercises.
