On Dec. 21, 2012, predictions say that the world is going to end in a cataclysmic catastrophe that will entirely annihilate our world as we know it.
Some utilize the Mayan calendar which ends on this date. However, the Mayans completely disagree with what the media has done with the information.
The Mayans say that the calendar ends because it is the end of an age and a new age will continue.
On Nov. 13, 2009, the movie 2012 is coming out in theatres all across the United States. The movie depicts assumptions that the world is going to end on Dec. 21, 2012 through a series of mass disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, tornadoes, etc.
This action packed movie shows that the world will be destroyed in one day and earth as well as mankind will cease to exist as it is known.
Are we sure this will happen or is it a folly of lies that people have thrown at us just to scare us?
The Mayans, whose calendar has brought controversy over the end of the world, state that their calendar is not calculating the end of the world. It will be the starting of a new age.
One theory that people believe will happen that fateful day is that Planet X will fall into Earth's orbit and collide with the Earth so hard that it will make the meteor of the dinosaurs seem small in comparison.
Many people are looking to religion for the answers. In the book of Revelations, it depicts a theory similar to the movie in which great storms like earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanoes will plague the Earth.
Christians believe that Christ will descend from the heavens and take the saved back with him while the rest on Earth are left for complete obliteration. In Revelations, the end times does not have a specific date as to when it will occur. This is why Christians do not believe that the 2012 theories will happen.
Another theory is that there will be an astronomical alignment on the day of the winter solstice. Again, the earth and life are in for a nasty awakening from their usual lives.
There are many theories to what will happen on Dec. 21, 2012, but many people continue to go back to the Mayan calendar believing that it prophesizes the end of the world even though Mayans state that this is an inaccurate use of their calendar.
However, people need to realize that nobody knows when the world is going to end and no amount of science, calendars and civilizations from ancient times will be able to prove that the end of the world is going to happen on a specific date.
So one thing we can do is wait patiently to find out what will happen instead of behaving foolishly by the misuse of an ancient calendar.
