The Glendale Community College (GCC) men's soccer team is off to a sluggish start.
The Gaucho's began the season by being shutout in a disappointing 4-0 loss to Scottsdale Community College on Aug. 29. When asked what led to the downfall of their first game, coach Kevin Grubb credited the loss to "freshman jitters."

GCC's Fernando Castro (11) looks on as Scottsdale runs away with the victory on Aug. 29.
There are only five returning players to the roster this season.
Grubb believes leadership from sophomores is the strength of the team.
Despite the inexperienced roster, Coach Grubb is optimistic about the 2009 season.
"I want to make the playoffs" Grubb shared.
The team garnered their first victory on Sept. 2 against South Mountain Community College, in a 3-1 victory.
GCC was once again shutout in a 1-0 loss against Arizona Western on Sept. 5. 14th ranked Pima College also defeated GCC on Sept. 7, 9-3, bringing Glendale's record to 1-3.
