Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society, an excelling program, and the largest honors society for community college students across the world, have their own slice of life here at Glendale Community College (GCC).
Across the United States there are more than 2 million members and 1,200 chapters.
The Omicron Lambda is the local chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa that GCC has on campus. Phi Theta Kappa offers quite a few perks to its members.
Students that are fortunate enough to qualify for the membership into Phi Theta Kappa are offered a wide selection of special scholarship opportunities, extra financial aid, letters of recommendation for employment and educational programs and opportunities, media recognition, a notation of membership on college transcripts, and many other such benefits for being a part of the society.
Of course organizations like Phi Theta Kappa standout on resumes because they show obvious accounts of leadership skills, teamwork, organizational skills, and determination. Phi Theta Kappa students will receive special recognition at their graduation as well as an honors seal on their diplomas.
Graduating Greek Honor Society students will be decked out in Phi Theta Kappa regalia, such as, an honors stole, Honor Cord, Gold Tassel, and Key Medallion. In order to qualify for this prestigious organization, a student must meet a certain degree of requirements. They must maintain a grade point average of 3.8 or higher and be a full-time student.
While students may feel under qualified for such an honor, reaching the heights to be a part of Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society, it is well worth the effort.
