Aaron Brown and Francisco Munoz put their musical talents on display during a campus concert.
This program, though obscure and seemingly small, packs a punch for it's competition around the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD).
The guitar performers showed off their skills on Mar. 13 during the (GCC) Guitar Studio Concert. GCC students performed various pieces in different arrangements, capturing their audience with their surpassing ability as guitarists.
The crowd experienced three guitar trios, a guitar duo, solos, and large ensembles.
From Classical to Latin to the exotic style of Flamenco, the guitar students prepare for a future of musical talent.
This is not just a group of random students holding onto dreams of fame; these are individuals with real passion and promise in the musical field.
The performers are vigilantly preparing for the MCCD Music Competition that is being held on Mar. 27.
The Competition enters students in various categories such as: Instrumental, Guitar, and Piano solos, Male and Female Vocal Ensemble Solos (music theatre and classical), instrumental ensembles, and composition.
Winners receive scholarships and a rare opportunity to show off their incredible skills in the Artists of Promise event. GCC students, such as Francisco Munoz and Aaron Brown, are excited about the opportunity they have to compete with other students in the MCCD.
Both Munoz and Brown are studying for their Bachelor Degrees in Music Majoring in Guitar Performance.
"We're practicing really hard in the hopes of sweeping the competition," Says Brown with a twinkle in his eye. It's apparent that they have a fighting chance.
Munoz has been interested in guitar since a very young age, while Brown discovered his talent here at GCC. Both students have been inspired by the program.
