Softball snaps 6-game slide

Glendale softball earned a badly-needed sweet over Paradise Valley last Saturday, winning both games 5-3, 10-8.
Glendale withstood a 7-run fifth inning by PVCC after leading 8-0.
The wins came on the heels of a six-game losing streak. The Gauchos were scoreless in three of the six matches.
The Yavapai Roughriders roughed up Glendale four times in six days. The Gauchos were shut out 6-0, 7-0 in their first double-header on Saturday Feb. 21.
Last Friday Glendale was again swept by the Roughriders, losing both games 6-0, 6-4. The second game was heartbreaker, as Yavapai ultimately prevailed in extra innings.
Sandwisched between the the Yavapai series' was a doubleheader at Pheonix College. The five-time reigning national champions held Glendale at bay, winning both games 8-5, 9-5.
Second baseman Jennifer Eberhardt has been stellar for the Gauchos. As of Monday her batting average (.545) ranked second in the conference.
Glendale's Rachel Villa (.537) and Karena Brown (0.460) rank among the conference leaders in batting average.
