V-Day movies for any romantic situation

By Amanda Savage
Freelance Reporter, The VOICE

Single & Hopeful

The helpless romantic will love the dreamy feeling and theme of everlasting love with a more modern version of Cinderella in Ever After. Never Been Kissed also provides the love sick single with everything they want to look forward to when falling in love.

Long-term Couple

Chances are you have participated in a few Valentine's Day celebrations. So ditch the candle lit dinner; snuggle up, make some chocolate dipped goodies, order in and rent The Notebook, one of the mushiest romantic movies ever made. This movie will even leave your man teary eyed.

New Couple

With the thrill and excitement of falling in love, romantic comedies are perfect for a new couple. After a fun dinner out, pick Good Luck Chuck, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison or 50 First Dates; all movies which will keep you laughing and feeling lovey-dovey. Try to actually watch the movie!

Just Broken Up

If you have just broken up or gotten out of relationship you should be no where near a couch or watching love movies on T.V. You should be out partying it up with a crew of single friends. If you find yourself stuck at home and bathing in your sorrow, Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a movie that will give you new hope, that and a pint of Ben and Jerry's.

On your way out?

Trying to drop a hint? The Break Up says it all, and will definitely get the point across.

The Artsy Couple

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind provides a creative way to depict the theme of destiny. But put on your thinking caps for this one, it can get a little confusing.

Love Pessimist

For all the fairy tale nonbelievers out there check out the film, Closer provides you with a twisted and extremely depressing ending to the complications that falling in love can sometimes bring.

With a Friend

If you're into girly nights of drinking cosmos and painting your finger nails then chances are you have already seen, and own, all of these movies. But, Legally Blonde, Miss Congeniality, and Sex in the City all will provide you with a feel good girly romantic vibe along with many laughs.

With a "Friend"

We have all had that friend before. So this year if you're trying to let someone know you think they're extra special pop in Just Friends or My Best Friends Girl. These fairly new romantic comedies will have your special someone finally getting your hints.

The Out – There kind of Couple

Heather's is an oldie, but chances are you two are into that kind of thing. It's about two kids who sort of fall in love, and end up being responsible for the 'accidental' death of many jocks and cheerleaders at their school. This movie is a little awkward, for lack of a better description, but if that's what you're into, it will definitely become one of your favorites.

Holiday Hater

My Bloody Valentine is not only new and filled with teens getting slashed, but it's 3- D! If you completely hate the holiday, My Bloody Valentine will definitely make you happy. Afterwards, host an "Anti-Valentine's Day Party."

One of the best parts about being single is being able to do whatever you want, AND, doing it irresponsibly. Nothing says you loathe the holiday more than a singles only Anti-Valentine's Day kegger.
