A local band that is expanding music lovers' ear canals and beating on their ear drums is Snail Quail (SQ), who have been playing local venues since 2007.

Mr. Jimmy serenades the room with his creative sound that is all his own. Snail Quail will have you begging for more.

SQ is influenced by Johnny Cash, Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie, and MxPx, to name just a few. Mr. Jimmy, the founding member/lead singer/song writer/many other hats, is taking the punk/indie/pop sound to another level where he is king. After many years of working, SQ has released a stellar EP of original music titled "Moving On," recorded in San Antonio and Phoenix.

SQ listens to a vast majority of music and is really interested in good lyrics. This is understandable seeing how particular he is about his own music. SQ loves to play in front of small crowds, but gives a performance like he was in front of hundreds of thousands.

Since early September 2008, SQ has been working towards putting together a band.

When watching SQ perform live you get the sense he is reaching into the audience and pulling you up on stage along with him. The beat and the lyrics are moving emotionally and will get you moving physically.

The lyrics will stay with you long after you have gone on to do other things.

For example, when Mr. Jimmy sings about relationship issues in "Opposite Love Song": This is an opposite love song, the one where I get the girl, which I'm still singing to this day.

The title track gives the desire to do just that in your own life if you are going through the same crap with an ex/current partner.

If you find yourself in a mood for something different from the musical norm that has a good flow and is seriously funny, yet thought provoking lyrics, then damn it, go and give "Moving On" a listen to and then go see him live its audience participation at its best.

You can check SQ out on the web at MySpace and other social sites.
