On Nov. 21, the Swift Kids Boys and Girls Club held their annual Thanksgiving dinner. The event is to be repeated for Christmas dinner on Dec. 19. These dinners are offered to club members and families; this nonprofit organization prides itself on making a difference and giving back to those in the community.

Many families were able to partake in Friday's event, filling the facilities gym. Many were able to enjoy a full turkey meal with their choice of pie for dessert. The atmosphere was one of contagious joy and warmth.
The Swift Kids Branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix (BGCMP) is located on 6420 West Maryland Avenue in Glendale. Volunteers are encouraged to lend a helping hand at holiday dinners.
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix is to inspire and enable the youth in the community, especially those faced with difficult and challenging circumstances, realize their individual potential while learning responsible citizenship.
BGCMP focuses on five core program areas (the arts, character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, and sports, fitness, and recreation) that help youth develop a positive self identity, and scholastic achievement.
The drive to contribute to these kids comes from the hopes and dreams that these youth will have the characteristics and qualities to become responsible citizens and leaders who make meaningful contributions to society and live successful lives.
There are many opportunities to volunteer with the BGCMP as a fundraiser, board member, or sharing your time and talent at a Clubhouse.
The next major ground level event that the Swift Kids will be needing volunteers comes Dec 19 for their annual holiday party.
