By Ashley TolandReporter, The VOICE
College students have a tendency to stress on the idea of their exams for class.
Many try to cram in countless hours of studying, sometimes into the late night before the test the next day. However, this does not always have to be the case for students preparing for their exams.
There are numerous steps one can take to pass their finals without the unneeded stress and worry of not passing.
The first thing one can do is study; college students who study the material are more prepared for what will be on the test. The student can retain the information better over a longer period of time if he/she studies in advance. Also, students can study the text book and information given in class presenting a higher chance of passing the final.
Another thing one can do to pass their final is come to class on time. Many instructors give out important information in the first few minutes of class, like test days and important notes. Although, going to class sometimes can be a drag, it is important to attend to receive the information needed to pass the class. Especially, with instructors that have the habit of only providing the information once.
Next, make sure all assignments are turned in on time to the instructor, including projects and essays that are done at home. Turning in assignments in on time can affect the final grade for the entire course.
Also, read the syllabus before the course begins, review the dates for deadlines on assignments, mid-terms, and the final. Pay attention to the best way to retain the information and the best way to study the material. Find time to study the information, but not all at once. Take the time to understand what is being learned and take good notes that will be easy to understand later upon reviewing.
Although studying can be time consuming, make sure to eat healthy foods both before and during the test. Caffeine is only a temporary boost and it doesn't make the stress go away.
Make sure to look over the test and answer the questions already known right away. This will help with taking the harder questions due to the easier questions could reveal clues.
By taking the time to study and review material that is going to be on the test, one is giving oneself a better chance of passing the course and earning the grade they deserve.
