Senator Barack Obama has promised to bring about change to the American people. His proven track record of diplomacy, forward thinking, and exemplary leadership skills have helped several groups of people throughout his career and schooling years and have molded him into a suitable candidate in the race for President of the United States of America.
Obama graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Columbia University of New York with a major in Political Science and International Relations. Basing himself in Chicago, Obama was hired as Director of the Developing Communities Project, a catholic based organization, who organized a job training program, college prep tutoring, and tenant's right programs. His innate nature as a delegate lead him to Harvard Law School where he graduated with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 1991. During his schooling at Harvard, Obama was elected as the first African-American President of the Harvard Law Review.
Obama has perpetuated peace and unity throughout his entire career from a Civil Rights Attorney, to his election in the Illinois and U.S. Senate. First elected in 1996 into the Illinois State Senate, Obama brought about changes such as welfare reform and increased tax credits to low-income workers. Obama has supported regulations for predatory mortgage loan companies to help prevent foreclosures of homes and has openly rallied against the War in Iraq. Eventually, Obama was elected and then re-elected in 2004 into the U.S. Senate, which gained him considerable respect and a nomination as Democratic candidate in the 2008 election.
"I am in this race to tell the corporate lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda in Washington are over. I have done more than any other candidate in this race to take on lobbyists — and won. They have not funded my campaign, they will not run my White House, and they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I am president," states Obama. Obama has broken records with the $58 million he raised in campaign funds early 2007 and the 16.7 million dollars in donations of $200 or less he has received as donations, more than any other candidate. Obama is rearing for a dramatic change in the White House and its political infrastructure and it is clear that tired Americans are ready for something new.
Obama is fighting hard to regain nationalism that has been lost due to the Bush Administration's trample over United States politics for the past eight years. One of the ways to help alleviate the pressure bearing down on U.S. citizens is his Tax Cut Proposal that will grant 95 percent of working households who earn under $250,000 a year extra tax cuts.
In the final Presidential debate Obama declared "The plumber, the nurse, the firefighter, the teacher, the young entrepreneur who doesn't yet have money, I want to give them a tax cut now. 98 percent of small businesses make less than $250,000 a year I also want to give them more tax breaks because they are the drivers of our economy, they produce the most jobs."
As the projected winner in this presidential race Obama will run this country with honesty, intelligence, and courage to reach new frontiers.
