There is a new club on the Glendale Community College (GCC) campus which plans to make a positive impact in the coming months.

The club is the Native American Student Association (NASA).

The membership is not just Native Americans (NA) so anyone can join and who knows you might find out that you do have a relative or two who are NA.

NASA will be working with other colleges such as Phoenix College (PC) and Arizona State University West (ASU) to get the word out about Native American activities and events.

Though NASA has been a part of GCC its presence was not seen.

NASA is off to a good start with over 20 people showing up at its first meeting for the fall semester. NASA will be placing boxes around GCC for people to drop off toys to less fortunate children.

Isabel Contra is the Advisor and Lionel Yellowhair is the President of NASA, Yellowhair is from PC so he has had experience working with PC and NASA prior to coming to GCC.

Yellowhair has big plans for NASA, but he is not the type of person to just enforce his wants and desires he will inform the club on what he thinks and let them decided if they as a whole want to do one of his ideas or come up with and execute one of their own. During the second meeting the club was introduced to the new Dean of Student Life Osaro Ighodaro, Ph.D. Who laid out his position on students clubs and let the club know that he supported them. On October 11TH the NASA along with its sister club at PC participated in Phoenix's Native American Recognition Days (NARD) Parade.

The event was from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and many supporters as well as Native Americans were present.
