GCC celebrates in upcoming Hispanic Heritage Month events

This past Friday both Glendale Community College (GCC) students and faculty gathered for their last planning meeting for the 2008 Hispanic Cultural Heritage Month events.
Before going into detail about the events attendees received information about the Three Pathways to Success a program which is made up of English, computer, and citizenship classes.
Students were also reminded of the upcoming GCC Scholarships deadline which is this September 19 and scholarship workshops presented by Francis Mateo.
Afterwards, Jose Mendoza spoke about the Hispanic Cultural Heritage Month events which are comprised of films, discussions, speakers, photo and documentary displays.
The events will also include entertainment such as "El Mariachi Corazón de Phoenix".
"Two of the films and discussions are "The Invisible People of San Diego" and "Chicanos in Vietnam".
Speakers like James E. Garcia will be touching on a variety of subjects that affect our community. Some of these presentations are "Ethnic Studies" presented by Gloria Cuadrez and "Las Mujeres de Juárez" presented by the writer Stella Pope Duarte.
Photo and documentary displays include "Hispanic Military Contributions","Photos of Farm workers and Braceros", and "Photos of the Mexican Revolution".
