Guns to join pencils, pens and notebooks as school supplies

The Arizona Board of Regents has decided to modify statue SB1214: CONCEALED WEAPONS; SCHOOL GROUNDS this modification prohibits weapon possession on school grounds to allow possession by persons who possess a valid concealed carry permit. Expands the definition of “school” to include community colleges and universities, both public and private. As stated in the Regents minutes from it’s March 6-7 meeting.
There will be firearms on campus at Northern Arizona University (NAU), University of Arizona (UofA), and Arizona State University (ASU) are all upping their hands to protect the students and faculty. They are arming their campus police officers with assault riffles with in the next year. But before they are armed they will be trained in how to use the weapons. And as we all know that if something can get passed on the major campus’ then it will not be long before the community campuses are affected.
Right now we have armed security officers who have been trained to handle the weapons that they carry here on our own campus. And after the truly disturbing, troubling actions of a small few in different parts of the nation on college campus.
Why shouldn’t we allow those with permits who are 21 and older to carry concealed weapons? It will defiantly make speech class and any debates interesting to see. It will also seriously prevent the number of attacks on campuses. We can no longer foolishly believe that our safety is not in harms way. People have become more violent towards one another as time has progressed.
Campuses are a learning place a place of dreams, creating them, furthering them, realizing them. Everyone who carries a concealed weapon should be trained to use that weapon.
