When to break up around Valentine's Day?
The Day Of.

For some, Valentine's Day is that time of the year when you go out of your way to say I love you in a romantic way to that special person in your life. For others, it's simply a means to an ends: for men the one time of year that sex is presumably guaranteed as long as you make her happy; for women the one time of year that sex is implied, presuming she is kept happy.
Either way you look at it, ultimately the day is a celebration of love, and what better way to show your significant other love, than to give them what they want every Feb. 14th?.
Yet, for some the day looms on the horizon like storm clouds. Perhaps the relationship lost its luster long ago, but one party is too afraid (for whatever reason) to express discontent. Now the thought of spending another Valentines Day with this person is like a pillow suffocating you; your reality has become a pitiful plight.
Maybe you know that if you don't buy her something she will go Britney Spears crazy on you. Or maybe the thought of spending one more night with him makes you physically sick.
So the question you're probably asking is, when do I break up with him/her? If you truly are in a desperate situation and you want nothing to do with the person you are stuck with, then only one day sticks out in my mind: Valentines.
Be bold, don't be afraid to assert your stance. Breaking up with your significant other on Valentine's Day lets you say without going into detail "I've moved on, now you should too." Let the person know that you've thought of this decision and tell them why you don't want to be together.
If they start to whine, cry, or become violent or angry, do not show emotion. Let them know that it's not you; it's them! Finally, do not talk, IM, email, or keep in contact with this person in any way shape or form.
Stay strong and you won't be pestered by this person in the following weeks and months to come. The heart ache of a pre-meditated breakup on the most sexually and romantically charged day of the year will give them something to talk about in years of therapy appointments to come.
But don't worry too much. They were stone crazy before you broke their heart.
