Signature File

The signature file below is approved for use at GCC. Using a signature provides a professional look to your emails. The instructions below will show you how to produce one of these for use with your email. First you will download a template file, then use Word to modify the template and save it as a web page (HTM file). Not all items in the template are required, but they are recommended. The email program you use determines how to attach this signature file to your email messages.

(Will not work on Macintosh or in WebMail)

Download signature file template.

1. Click on the following link and save the file to your My Documents folder: Signature File

2. Locate the signature.doc file in My Documents and double click on it to open it.

3. When the file is open change the following information:

Your Name
Title
Department
Phone Number
Fax Number

Web Address

4. If you do not use any of these items, delete that line.

5. If you work at GCC North change the address line to: 5727 W Happy Valley Rd / Glendale AZ 85310

6. To update your web address, navigate to your departments web page, then copy the address.

7. Right click on the web address in your signature file and select "edit hyperlink".

8. Paste the address into the Text to display: and the Address: area in the Edit Hyperlink dialog box. (see below)

9. Click OK

10. The screen displays your department's web address.

11. When finished modifying the file, click file, Save As Web Page... (Word 2007 select Save As, then from the Save as type dropdown arrow select "Web Page (*.htm, *.html)".

12. Leave the name as signature.htm, save to your My Documents: folder.

 

Netscape Signature File:

  

1. Open Netscape Mail

2. Click on Edit > Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings. . .

 

3. Select your account from the list on the left.
4. Then click on Attach this signature:
5. Click on Choose. . .  and navigate to your file and select it. 
6. The path to this file will show in the window. 
7. Click OK to complete the process.

Thunderbird Signature File:

 

1. Open Thunderbird

2. Click on Tools > Account Settings. . .

 

3. Select your account from the list on the left.
4. Then click on Attach this signature:
5. Click on Choose. . .  and navigate to your file and select it. 
6. The path to this file will show in the window. 
7. Click OK to complete the process.

8. Test to make sure it is working by sending an email to yourself. 

The message has your new signature attached.
