Classifications
All students will be classified for tuition purposes under one of the following residency classifications:
- Maricopa County resident
- Out-of-County resident
- Out-of-State resident (including F-1 nonimmigrant students)
-
Unclassified, Out-of-County, Out-of-State (1-6 credit hours system-wide)
Guidelines used to determine residency for tuition purposes are a combination of statutory law (A.R.S. §151801 et. sec.) and regulations of the Maricopa Community Colleges Governing Board. Students who have questions about their residency should contact the Office of Admissions and Records for clarification.
State law now requires that a person who is not a citizen or legal resident of the United States or who is without lawful immigration status is not entitled to classification as an in-state student pursuant to A.R.S. §15-1802 or entitled to classification as a county resident pursuant to A.R.S. §15-1802.01.
