Information for Student Officers

Responsibilities:

  • Work Together With Your Advisor Work with your advisor in creating a vital program and include them in all club planning. All meetings must have your advisor or his/her designee present. Your advisor will be able to assist you much more if you give them the opportunity to plan, administer, and evaluate programs with you. Clear dates for all regular meetings and special functions with your advisor prior to officially scheduling events. Make a standing weekly appointment for the president and/or officers of the organization and the advisor to confer concerning the agenda of each meeting.
  • Represent the College Recognize that, to a degree, the organization represents the College to the community and, as a result, has the responsibility to uphold the standards that will bring credit to the organization, to the College, and ultimately, to the community.
  • Follow Policies and Procedures:
  • Keep a copy of your club's constitution on file in the Student Leadership Center.
  • Follow college policies and campus procedures in planning organizational activities, such as: travel, use of funds, and scheduling events.
  • Submit all required forms and paperwork in a timely fashion. Do not expect last minute requests to be approved.
  • Keep the Student Leadership Center advised as to officers' roster (including current telephone numbers) and any changes therein.
  • Utilize Resources The Student Leadership Center can give you assistance in college policies and procedures, assistance with forms, fiscal information, event planning, and fund-raising. Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Get the help and advice during the planning stages and avoid problems down the line.
