The Associate in Applied Science degree (AAS) is designed for students wanting to gain a depth of technical expertise by completing an occupational program (see list below).

The Associate in Arts degree (AA) is for students wanting to complete a degree in 2 years or are planning to transfer to four-year colleges and universities. In general, the components of the degree meet requirements for majors in the Liberal Arts, Business, Elementary Education, Performing Arts or other programs of study. The degree will transfer as a block without loss of credit to Arizona's public universities and other institutions. GCC offers a variety of Associate Degrees.

The Certificate of Completion (CCL) is a certificate awarded for the completion of a specified career program. Students should consult the Check Sheets or the GCC General Catalog and Student Handbook to determine specific program requirements.

The Academic Certificate (AC) is a program of study recommended for students who wish to gain additional expertise in an academic area. While this program of study can result in proficiency in specified skills and competencies, as well as mastery of knowledge, it is not designed to prepare someone for employment in a specific occupation. The content for an Academic Certificate may be derived from a variety of disciplines or it can be discipline specific.
