COLLEGE ACTIVITIES, EVENTS & RECOGNITIONS
First Vendors Luncheon a Success
GCC hosted an important "first" on Dec. 14: a luncheon for vendors and business partners. About 20 business owners, sales representatives and others from throughout the Valley who do business with us attended, met GCC staff, and heard a brief presentation. This event was a great idea and helps us build relationships that will be critical as we launch GCC's $105 million Capital Development Program made possible by the overwhelming success of Prop. 401. Many thanks and congratulations to Connie Sherman for her leadership in inaugurating this event. Thanks also to Regis Della-Calce, Herman Gonzalez and to the Administrative Services staff for implementing the luncheon and program. I hope it can become an annual event and inspire other such events in which we pro-actively reach out to business partners.

…to Mike Gillispie of the Ag Department for receiving his Qualifying Party license from the Structural Pest Control Commission of Arizona. He teaches a class composed of one groundskeeper from each MCCCD campus, focusing on how to recognize pest problems, develop a comprehensive program to deal with them, and apply appropriate pesticides correctly. As far as we know, Mike is the only person in MCCCD to obtain this certification.
