Department of Religious Studies & Philosophy

The Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy at Glendale Community College offers a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives on religion and philosophy in their historical, literary, artistic, intellectual and social contexts. In addition to surveys of religious traditions and eastern and western philosophy, the Department’s faculty regularly offers courses in ethics, bioethics, logic, Native American religious traditions, and classics of western and eastern spirituality.  Complimenting these courses are tradition-specific courses in Judaism, Islam and Christianity, as well as thematic courses on women in religion, the philosophy of sexuality, and environmental ethics.

In addition to our regular curriculum, the Department sponsors The Religious Studies Club and faculty participate in a variety of community activities.  We invite you to explore the website, and, again we welcome you.

In Fall 2006, the Department began offering courses online, and, at present, multiple sections of six different courses are available in an online format.  We anticipate offering more virtual courses soon. Online learning allows students to learn from home, work, or campus at anytime.
