About GCC Choral Arts
Our desire at GCC is to provide you with the opportunity to continue in this enriching experience that complements your education, no matter what your major area of study may be. All of our Choral Ensembles are open to all academic majors.
If you have a musical background, such as high school singing, or vocal or instrumental experience, we may have a place for you in one of our four choirs. You will have fun, meet people from virtually every major academic discipline, continue your vocal development and build lasting friendships and memories.
GCC Choral/Vocal Ensembles
GCC CONCERT CHOIR
A large mixed choir designed to emphasize choral techniques and performance of all styles of choral literature. Public performances are scheduled during the year which may include a concert tour.
MEETS: M,W from 10-10:50am & T, TH from 10-11:15am
An audition at the beginning of each semester is required. You may enroll in the course but it does not guarantee entry into the ensemble. The audition may include a sight-reading example.
GCC CHAMBER SINGERS
An elite mixed vocal ensemble comprised of the best singers attending GCC. This ensemble receives frequent requests to perform and tour throughout Arizona.
MEETS: M, W, F from 12-12:50pm
An audition is required. The audition is a solo that best demonstrates the qualities of your voice. Check for dates at the beginning of each semester.
GCC MIXED COMMUNITY CHOIR
A mixed chorus that consists of college students and community members. This choir performs several times each semester. They perform a vast array of music, from Renaissance through contemporary composers. This ensemble is open to all students and members of the community who have an interest in singing.
MEETS: Monday evenings from 7:10pm - 9:30pm
An audition is required for this ensemble
GCC VOCAL JAZZ
An auditioned vocal ensemble that will sing in the jazz style. Public performances are scheduled during the year and may include extra performances in area schools and tours.
MEETS: T, TH from 2-3:30pm
An audition is required. The audition will consist of a vocal solo in the jazz style. Audition dates and performance material are announced at the beginning of each semester.

GCC Choral Scholarships $
There are many scholarships available to both music majors and non-music majors. It is possible to obtain a choral scholarship in addition to other scholarships (honors, athletic, club, etc.). The scholarship amount is usually based on your current course load including the number of choral ensembles and music classes. If you are interested in obtaining a choral scholarship please contact Dr. Kriegel at (623) 845-3724 or stop by the Performing Arts Office in Music Building 1 - room 103.
