New Payment Options Give GCC Students More Flexibility
Students now have a fully automated payment plan option for any Glendale Community College location when they register for spring classes. Payment plans will be managed by Nelnet Business Solutions/FACTS, the leading provider of such plans, serving more than 400 colleges nationwide since 1986.
Open enrollment begins Mon., Oct. 30 at all three GCC locations in Glendale: the main campus at 6000 W. Olive Ave., GCC North at 5727 W. Happy Valley Rd., and the GCC-ASU Partnership, 4701 W. Thunderbird Rd. Offering 100 degrees and certificates and more than 7,000 sections of classes, GCC's three locations begin spring classes Tues., Jan. 16.
"Students should register soon while their first choices of classes are still available at convenient times. The good news is they can spread their payments over the spring semester by going to www.gc.maricopa.edu, clicking on Online Student Services and selecting Payment Plan," says GCC's Director of College Business Services Regis Della-Calce. "The plan requires a $20 service fee per semester and students must have a checking account or a major credit card."
Students can enroll for classes that have no pre-requisites at www.gc.maricopa.edu or at 623.845.3333. Phone and on-campus registration hours are Mon.-Thurs., 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Fri., 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Sat., 8 a.m. to noon. View the spring schedule of classes for all locations at www.schedule.gc.maricopa.edu.
GCC offers opportunities for everyone—the following and more at reasonable prices:
Associate degrees Certificates in occupational areas and for the Arizona General Education Curriculum Credits for university transfer Nursing training Fire and police training Courses to upgrade job skills Internships to explore careers Courses for personal learning and pleasure
Anyone who needs help can meet with academic advisors during day or evening hours. Appointments are not necessary at main campus; call 623.845.3099 for hours. Appointments are required at GCC North; call 623.845.4000 to schedule.
Courses are offered at flexible times at all three locations. In addition to traditional daytime hours, classes are offered in the early morning, late afternoon, evening, weekends and online. Some courses are less than a semester long; some start late in the semester. Open-entry/self-paced classes are popular, especially for computer classes, as students begin and end class at their convenience.
Research shows that individuals with two-year AA degrees earn $7,000 per year more than those with only a high school diploma. Those with "some college" earn $5,000 more per year.
