GCC Football Team Ranked #6 in NJCAA Pre-Season Poll

Coming off a perfect 11-0 National Championship season in 2005, the Glendale Community College Gaucho Football team opened its 2006 season already ranked #6 in the nation by the National Junior College Athletic Association. The NJCAA also released its 2006 pre-season All-American teams, naming 11 Gaucho players.

On offense, lineman Michael Griffin (6-3, 305) was selected First Team All-American. Named Honorable Mention All-Americans were Brenden Gaskins (QB, 6-4, 220), Fletcher Sergent (RB, 6-0, 220), John Means (WR, 6-2, 190), Collin Boulay (OL, 6-1, 275), and Steve Flores (PK, 5-11, 175).

On defense, five GCC players made the All-American Honorable Mention Team: Josh Galloway (DE, 6-2, 250), Matt Hassenflag (DT, 6-2, 260), Sam Hardy (DB, 6-1, 190), Morris Wooten (LB, 6-1, 235), and Willie Brumbaugh (P, 6-4, 220).

The Gauchos did not disappoint in their opening game against the Grizzlies of Adams State College, Sept. 3, in Alamosa, Colorado. The Gauchos trounced the Grizzlies, 36-0.
