GCC "Robot Ramble" Seeks High School Teachers & Students, Oct. 21
Arizona high school students can build robots, solve engineering design problems, and stimulate innovative thinking for free at the Glendale Community College Robot Ramble Workshop Sat., Oct. 21, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science, the workshop is also designed for high school teachers to learn ways to keep students engaged in science and technology. Pre-registration is required. Students in 9th through 12th grades must enroll with their teachers—two to four students will be admitted for every teacher attending. Community Invited to "Flowers for Algernon" Auditions at GCC, Sept. 12-13
Community members are invited to Glendale Community College to audition for the poignant role of Charlie Gordon or any of the other seven male parts or nine female parts in the play, "Flowers for Algernon." Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script in the GCC Performing Arts Center on Tues., Sept. 12, 5:00-9:00 p.m., and Wed., Sept. 13, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Call-back auditions will be held Wed., Sept. 13, 7:00-9:00 p.m. GCC students, faculty and staff are also invited to audition. No acting experience is required; picture and résumé are optional. Those selected for cast or crew will be required to enroll in THP201AA (1 credit, $65) or THP201AB (2 credits, $125). State-Level Financial Aid Organization to be Led by GCC Employee
Ellen Neel, Director of Financial Aid at Glendale Community College, has been elected president of the Arizona Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (AASFAA) for 2007-2008. She will represent more than 130 Arizona educational institutions as a member of the Board of the Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. A professional organization dedicated to promoting student financial aid and educational opportunities for students, AASFAA supports the growth of its members through training. "College Goal Sunday," when financial aid employees throughout the country help students and parents navigate the financial aid application maze, is one of the many ways AASFAA helps students achieve their educational goals.
