$1.5 Million in Scholarships at GCC; Online Application Now Available!
Glendale Community College offers 95 scholarships representing more than 1,800 individual awards for students and totaling $1.5 million. Scholarships are available for new or returning students and those interested in careers in fire science, law enforcement, nursing, and other fields. For the first time, individuals may apply online at www.gc.maricopa.edu/finaid.
Adult Re-entry Scholarship
: for a student returning to college after a number of years
Glendale Kachina Rotary Scholarship
—for a motivated student who demonstrates leadership or community service
René Catalano Scholarships
—for incoming students pursuing a certificate or degree in Law Enforcement, Engineering, EMT, or automotives
Life 2.0 Scholarship
—for a student who is retraining in computer skills

Applications for all scholarships must be submitted by Mar. 31, 2006.
University Transfer Fair at GCC, Feb. 27
The public is invited to attend a free, college-transfer event Mon., Feb. 27 on the Glendale Community College campus at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale. Representatives of more than 30 institutions of higher education will staff information tables in the courtyard north of the Enrollment Center from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. GCC academic advisors will also be available to enroll students, discuss educational opportunities at the Maricopa Colleges, and explain the process for transferring to a four-year university. Students, student services professionals and faculty are particularly encouraged to attend. The Maricopa Community Colleges have created partnerships with four-year institutions to pave the way for transfer students and help them achieve their academic goals without losing credit or extending time to completion. "California Suite" Opens at GCC, Feb. 24
Neil Simon's ever-popular "California Suite" opens at 8:00 p.m., Fri., Feb. 24, at Glendale Community College's Performing Arts Center. Performances continue at 8:00 p.m. on Feb. 25, Mar. 2, 3, and 4. A 2:00 p.m. matinee will be performed on Sun., Feb. 26. Simon's comedic play is actually four separate stories about four sets of characters whose chaotic lives run parallel for a time when they all spend the same crazy weekend at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It is one of Simon's most successful plays and was made into a popular 1978 movie. Tickets are $8 general admission, $7 seniors, $6 alumni with alumni ID, and $5 for students or employees with GCC ID. GCC is located at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale; the Performing Arts Center is in the northeast quadrant of the campus. For more information, call 623.628.3810.
