GCC Spring 2006 Registration in Full Swing

Offering 100 degrees and certificates and more than 7,000 sections of classes every semester, Glendale Community College has begun open registration for the spring 2006 semester which begins Jan. 17. "Students should register now while their first choices of classes are still available at convenient times. The good news is that students can register now and not pay until Dec. 7," says Dean of Enrollment Services Mary Lou Massal. The Enrollment Center is open Mon. through Thurs., 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Fri. 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, except for holiday weekends, enrollment is taken in the Counseling and Career Services Building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The campus will be closed from noon on Dec. 23 through Mon., Jan. 2. To reach phone registration or to request a spring schedule of classes, call 623.845.3333.

GCC offers opportunities for everyone—the following and more at reasonable prices:

  • Associate degrees
  • Certificates in occupational areas and for the Arizona General Education Curriculum
  • Credits for university transfer
  • Nursing training
  • Fire and police training
  • Courses to upgrade job skills
  • Internships to explore careers
  • Courses for personal learning and pleasure

Research shows that individuals with two-year AA degrees earn, on average, almost $7,000 per year more than those with only a high school diploma. Those with "some college" earn $5,000 more per year.

GCC is one campus with three sites--all offering courses at flexible times to accommodate people with busy schedules. In addition to traditional daytime hours, classes are offered in the early morning, late afternoon, evening, weekends and online. Some courses are less than a full semester long and some start later in the semester. Open-entry/self-paced classes are very popular, especially for computer classes, as students can begin and end class at their convenience.

The main campus is located at 59th and Olive Avenues in Glendale. GCC North is located at 5727 W. Happy Valley Road. The GCC-ASU Partnership at the West campus is at 4701 W. Thunderbird Rd.

For those who are interested in college but don't know where to begin, or are unsure what to study, academic advisors are available during day and evening hours to advise and assist. It is not necessary to make an appointment to see advisors located in the GCC Enrollment Center. For hours or other information about advisement at the main campus, call 623.845.3099.
