$48,000 in Scholarships Still Available at GCC
Scholarships totaling $48,000 to support Glendale Community College students in diverse disciplines remain available. GCC has already awarded several hundred thousand dollars in scholarships for the Fall 2005 semester and hopes to award more soon. Scholarships may be used now or during the Spring 2006 semester and are available in 19 departments, including Education, Psychology, Fire Science, Police Academy, Computer Science and Business. Find application forms at www.gc.maricopa.edu/finaid. Forms must be turned in to the Student Financial Aid Office in the GCC Enrollment Center by Fri., Oct. 21, 2005, at 4:30 p.m. GCC is located at 59th and Olive Avenues in Glendale. More Than 55 Employers to Attend GCC Job Fair, Oct. 5
More than 55 employers including the Mesa Fire Department, American Express, Mesa Airlines, Circle K, Safeway, UPS and the Peoria Police Department will participate in the Glendale Community College Job Fair on Wed., Oct. 5, 2005. This service is free and open to the public. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the GCC central mall, employers will accept résumés, discuss job opportunities, and conduct some on-the-spot-interviews. According to Job Fair Coordinator June Otts, those interested should "come dressed for success with résumé in hand." The fair will feature full-and part-time employment, as well as seasonal jobs and internship opportunities. GCC is located at 59th and Olive Avenues in Glendale. Free Mixed Media Art Exhibit Opens at GCC Oct. 3
"Tour Mixed Media," an exhibit of watercolor, collage and acrylic paintings by artist Barbara Freedman, opens to the public with an artist's reception at Glendale Community College on Mon., Oct. 3. The exhibit and reception with refreshments will be held in the GCC Student Union Lounge from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The exhibit runs through Wed., Oct. 26. The Student Union is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. A dedicated art educator and former art instructor at GCC, Freedman is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and a past president of the Arizona Watercolor Association. She is included in Who's Who in the West and has won numerous awards and prizes for her work. Freedman exhibits her work widely at both regional and national levels. GCC is located at 59th and Olive Avenues in Glendale.
