Scholarships Surpass $1 Million for First Time at GCC!
For the first time in the history of Glendale Community College, more than $1 million has been made available for student scholarships. The exact amount for 2005-06, $1,337,421.00, represents a 54% increase in dollar amount over last year's scholarship total and a 26% increase in the number of scholarships available. These are annual scholarships that will continue to be available every year. The list includes six, large, new endowments from private donors; a large National Science Foundation Grant for student scholarships; and numerous other scholarships from individuals and community sources. "This has been an incredibly exciting year for scholarship development at GCC," says Assistant Director of Development Judy Sánchez. GCC Dance and Music Students Perform April 29
"Suite Hands and Feet," a festive evening of music and dance, will be presented by Glendale Community College dance and music students on Fri., April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. GCC's student dance troupe, Physical Graffiti, will dance to music performed by the GCC Percussion and Guitar Ensembles and faculty musicians. Choreography is by GCC faculty and students and by the winners of the Arizona Choreography Competition. Tickets, available at the door, are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. GCC is located at 6000 W. Olive Avenue in Glendale.
Learn About Early Childhood/Family Studies at GCC North, April 30
Glendale Community College North can help anyone launch a rewarding career in Early Childhood Studies or Family Studies by hosting a free informational open house on Sat., April 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. GCC faculty will discuss the various two-year AAS degree programs and shorter Certificate programs that are available in several different career areas. Such areas include Early Childhood Education, Family Life Education, Adult Development and more. Participants will take part in fun planned activities.
