GCC Hosts Lecture on Impact of Hate on Communities

Fighting the destructive power of hate and hate crimes in communities has become a sad necessity in many cities. Glendale Community College (GCC) brings an expert on the topic to its community on Wed., April 6, when Bill Straus, Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) will deliver a free public lecture on campus. Straus will discuss "The Impact of Hate on Communities" at 11:00 a.m. in the GCC Student Union Lounge at 59th and Olive Avenues in Glendale. The ADL is a worldwide organization founded in 1913, whose mission is "to stop … the defamation of the Jewish people … and to put an end forever to unjust and unfair discrimination against … any sect or body of citizens." Straus, a native Phoenician, has been Regional Director of the ADL since 2001. He calls his job "the most meaningful work I've ever pursued." He is well known in the Valley after many years in radio, especially as host of "Straus' Place" on KTAR. GCC offers this lecture as a service to its community. For more information call 623.845.3808.
