Chancellor of University of Alaska, Anchorage, to Speak at GCC

Dr. Elaine Maimon, Chancellor of the University of Alaska, Anchorage, and former Provost of the West campus of ASU, will speak at Glendale Community College on Tues., Mar. 22, at 2:30 p.m. The lecture is free and will be held in the GCC Physical Science Building in room PS-176. Maimon's topic will be "Writing Across the Curriculum." She is one of the founders of the "writing across the curriculum" movement, which espouses the idea that writing skills should be a component of all classes—not just English classes. She is also the author of "The Writer's Resource," a supplementary handbook that has been adopted for use in all English classes at GCC. Maimon's lecture is co-sponsored by the GCC English Department and McGraw-Hill Publishers. For more information, email kathleen.furlong@gcmail.maricopa.edu or call her at 623.845.3387.
