GCC Biology Prof. Publishes Acclaimed Anatomy Text
Glendale Community College Biology Professor Michael McKinley has spent the last four years co-authoring a college textbook titled Human Anatomy. It was recently published by McGraw-Hill and will be available for use by colleges and universities in the upcoming spring 2005 semester. Editors at McGraw-Hill expect the book to be very popular. According to GCC Biology Chair Dr. Steve Williams, "this is a first rate textbook. It will be a big seller for McGraw-Hill."
GCC Helps People Find Jobs
The Career Services Department at Glendale Community College helps people search careers and find jobs. A fact that may not be widely known is that these services are available to the community as well as to GCC students. Since September of this year, GCC Career Services has helped more than 140 individuals find jobs. Also in that same time frame, they have hosted several companies seeking qualified applicants for employment and internship opportunities. These companies have included Walt Disney World, FedEx, Wal-Mart, Pearson Government Solutions, Mervyn's and UPS. Recruiters from these and other companies meet applicants on the GCC campus to process applications, screen candidates and hold interviews. Interested job seekers can come to GCC Career Services at 6000 W. Olive Ave. in Glendale to discuss job opportunities, or can visit two helpful websites. Free Holiday Musical Events at Glendale Community College
Glendale Community College is offering several free musical events to the public. To be held in the GCC Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. are: Big Band Concert on Dec. 6, Community Band Concert on Dec. 7, Percussion Ensemble Concert on Dec. 8 and a Choral Concert on Dec. 9. A Student Piano Recital will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 11 in MU2-151 (music building). An evening of Musical Theater will be offered twice: 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 and 2:00 p.m. on Dec. 12.
