GCC Hosts National Expert as Final Event of Hispanic Heritage Month, Oct. 16

Glendale Community College was selected by the Mexican Consulate in Phoenix and the Association of Mexicans for the Integration of Groups and Organizations (AMIGO) to host a special Hispanic Heritage Month event. Co-sponsored by the GCC Office of Multicultural Affairs, the event features nationally-known California psychologist and author Dr. Ana Nogales. She will speak at the college at 6000 W. Olive Ave., on Sat., Oct. 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Student Union Lounge. Titled "Personal Improvement for Hispanic Women," her presentation is free and open to the public. A clinical psychologist and founder of Nogales Psychological Counseling, she dedicates herself to helping members of the Latino community improve their mental and emotional health. She is the founder and Clinical Director of a nonprofit organization, Casa de la Familia, for victims of rape, sexual assault, child abuse, physical abuse and domestic violence. AMIGO requested that GCC host Nogales to honor the close ties GCC has built to the Mexican Consulate, to recognize the large array of events the college has offered for Hispanic Heritage Month, and to lend support to the 19th National Hispanic Women's Conference to be held in Phoenix Oct. 14 and 15.
