GCC Offers New Nutrition Certificate For Fall Semester
A brand new Certificate of Completion in "Nutrition for Fitness and Wellness" will be offered by Glendale Community College (GCC) for the first time in the upcoming Fall 2004 semester, which begins August 21. Requiring 21 credits to complete, this program will provide personal trainers and other nutrition paraprofessionals with a basic nutrition background for non-clinical settings. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to work in a general community setting, with a focus on improving well-being and promoting healthy lifestyles. This would be an advantageous certificate for those working in fitness center settings, private or public recreation settings, scouting, boys and girls clubs, schools, and more. Older Americans Served at Glendale Community College
As national "Older Americans Month," May is an appropriate time to announce a new program of classes for the mature student at Glendale Community College (GCC). Called the "Academy for Lifelong Learning" (ALL), it is composed of classes, both credit and noncredit, that are specifically tailored for the older learner. Although anyone can register for them, they are designed for active older adults who wish to learn in a relaxed, informal setting with their peers. Summer semester, which begins June 1, will offer only noncredit classes such as Computer Basics, E-mail Workshop, Dream Interpretation, and travelogue classes. Call 623-845-3805 for a copy of the Summer Noncredit Schedule. The fall semester will include both credit and noncredit classes, with a heavy emphasis on computer classes. To be placed on a mailing list to receive a listing of ALL classes for fall, contact ALL Program Chairperson Sheryl Benavides at
sheryl.benavides@gcmail.maricopa.edu or leave a message at 623-845-3424. GCC is located at 6000 W. Olive Avenue in Glendale.
