Science Journal Cover Features GCC Prof's Photo
The cover of the February 2004 issue of the Journal of Sulfur Chemistry, published last month, features a microphotograph of sulfur, taken by Glendale Community College Geology and Astronomy Professor Stan Celestian. Published in England for sulfur scientists worldwide, this scholarly international journal features recent scientific studies and research in the expanding realm of sulfur science. Celestian is a master photographer of both the very small (microphotography of minerals) and the very large and far away (astrophotography of stars and planets). According to Celestian, it is "not surprising that an entire scholarly journal is devoted to sulfur, as it is an element of exceeding importance in both science and industry--where it has innumerable uses." Celestian is a resident of Waddell.
