GCC Receives $40,000 in New Partnership to Graduate More Nurses for Arizona
A new $40,000 sponsorship from Phoenix Baptist Hospital (PBH) will address the state's severe nursing shortage by helping Glendale Community College (GCC) hire one new nursing faculty member. The gift, to be awarded in early January, will be repeated annually for the foreseeable future. This additional faculty member will allow GCC to offer more nursing classes and accept more students into the program. The result will be even more nurses produced by GCC's popular program which graduates approximately 120 nursing students each year.
"Phoenix Baptist Hospital is excited to partner with GCC with the mission of alleviating Arizona's nursing shortage," said Christopher W. Dux, Chief Executive Officer at Phoenix Baptist Hospital. "We approached GCC with this sponsorship plan because of the high quality and excellent reputation of their nursing program, and the proximity of the college to the community in which Phoenix Baptist Hospital operates. It is important that students interested in a nursing career are not turned away. PBH is proud that we can assist GCC to ensure that all students who want to be nurses have the opportunity to do so."
GCC President Dr. Phil Randolph says. "GCC is extremely grateful for this generous faculty sponsorship from PBH which will help us to expand our nursing classes. Every nurse GCC graduates helps reduce the nursing shortage." For information on the GCC Nursing Program, visit
