Bass & Crappie Fishing Classes at Glendale Community College in Nov.
Valley fishing folks will be happy to know that Glendale Community College has not forgotten about them. The GCC Community Education program offers two fishing classes in November, taught by local bass pro, John Murray. "How to Catch Bass in Arizona Lakes" is a two-evening class on Nov. 4 and 6 from 7:10 p.m. to 9:10 p.m. Murray will discuss the differences among the lakes in Arizona and the different tactics needed to catch bass in them. He will also discuss lines and knot tying, lure scents, seasonal movements, lure selection, prime areas, and bass behavior. The registration fee is $35.
"Catch Crappie All Year" is a one-evening class on Nov. 5 from 7:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Murray will discuss tips, tactics, and secrets for catching this popular fish year-round. According to Murray, "crappie fishing is fun for the whole family because crappie are one of the easiest fish to catch if you know where to find them. They are a schooling fish, so if you catch one, you're going to catch a lot." He will discuss which lakes have the best crappie fishing, how to find the schools, seasonal patterns and best fishing methods. The registration fee is $25.
Advance registration is required. To register for either or both of these classes with a credit card, call GCC phone registration at 623-845-3333. Students may also register on campus in person at 6000 W. Olive Avenue in Glendale.
