Three athletes received Championship Rings from the National Junior College Athletic Association at a ceremony at Glendale Community College on January 17, 2024. Eysias Banks, Leila Barmore, and Warner Beach each received a Championship Ring in recognition of their individual athletic achievements in 2023.

The ceremony took place during halftime of the Glendale Community College men’s basketball game.  Participating in the award ceremony were college president Dr. Tiffany Hernandez and Dr. Peter Oliszczak, GCC Athletic Director.

GCC President Dr. Tiffany Hernandez congratulated each athlete saying.  “Your extraordinary success is in keeping with the great Gaucho athletic tradition. Each of you have excelled and you should be justifiably proud of your academic and athletic achievements.”

I hope that your success here at GCC is a stepping stone to even greater achievements,” said Dr. Peter Oliszczak, And may these rings serve as a reminder that you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to.”

Eysias Banks is the 2023 National Champion in the Mens 400-meter hurdle. His 51.05 second time earned him a first-place finish.

Leila Barmore is the 2023 National Champion in the Womens Triple Jump with a 12.60-meter high jump.

Both Eysias and Leila won their respective competitions this past spring at the NJCAA National Track and Field competition in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Gaucho Golfer, Warner Beach won the 2023 NJCAA Division II Arnold Palmer National Individual Champion Award. The National Championship took place in Plymouth Indiana in the spring of 2023. During tournament play, Warner carded six birdies en route to a final-round 69 (-3) and the one-stroke victory. He finished the tournament with a six-under 282 (67-70-76-69).
